Participation in MiBLSi requires...
- Commitment from at least 80% of building staff for participation over the next three years
- Commitment from building administration
- Commitment from district administration
As schools engage in the implementation process, periodic evaluation of the commitment of the building team and the school community should take place. The main ideas of this commitment include:
- Confirm commitment from administration
- Review school-improvement goals
- Are reading and/or behavior one of the top three school goals?
- Share current status of student reading and behavior performance with staff
- Is staff satisfied with current student outcomes?
- Ask staff if things are likely to improve if we continue in the same way
Commitment from Building Administration involves:
- Attending the trainings and meeting with your team at least monthly
- Combining teams and initiatives that have the same focus
- Protecting team members and staff from competing initiatives and tasks
Commitment from Building Leadership Team involves:
- Attending the trainings and meeting at least monthly as a team
- Using data and information to identify areas of focus and to make decisions
- Developing steps for implementation of activities and seeing that they are accomplished
- Providing ongoing information to staff regarding activities, results, and training opportunities
Commitment from District Administration involves:
- Promoting visibility of the project
- Securing and protecting resources snd time from competing activities
- Providing encouragement and acknowledgment for the team’s efforts
