PBIS Universal Day 2 for District Cohorts

Purpose:

This is the second of a three day series on Schoolwide Positive Behavioral and Intervention Supports (PBIS). The focus for today is on identifying and defining schoolwide behavioral expectations, teaching behavioral expectations, monitoring expected behavior, acknowledging expected behaviors, and correcting behavioral errors. Descriptions and multiple examples will be provided and school building leadership teams will be given time to individualize implementation supports and strategies to meet their school's unique needs.

 

Objectives

Building Leadership Teams will:

  • Identify and define schoolwide behavioral expectations, plan to observe behaviors in common areas, begin to develop a behavioral matrix of specific expectations/rules for common areas, and plan for making behavioral expectations visible within the school.
  • Understand the importance of explicitly teaching schoolwide behavioral expectations and begin developing lesson plans for teaching the expectations.
  • Understand the critical features and importance of monitoring behavior.
  • Understand the importance of acknowledging appropriate behavior, positive verbal interactions, and gain strategies for correcting behavioral errors.
