Grade Level Team

Description

The purpose of grade level teams is to evaluate the success of programs supporting all students within the specific grade and class; and to take action to strengthen these programs. Targeted/Strategic supports are created as “packages” around a specific need identified for groups of students.  These packaged programs may be developed by staff or purchased commercially. For example, students needing more instruction in phonemic awareness and alphabetic principle may be placed into a packaged intervention of First Grade PALS (published by Sopris West) or some students may be placed into daily report systems (“Check-in, Check-out”) developed for that particular school.

Membership

Grade level team members represent an entire grade level within the school.  Given the size of the school or the topic being discussed, it may be beneficial for several grade level teams to participate in the same meeting. Participating members include classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff and the building administrator. Sometimes the coach will attend the meetings to help support the meeting process.
