Inclement Weather Policy

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 | Category: Announcements, Website Update

What to do if there is a threat of inclement weather for a regional training:

MiBLSi’s policy is to cancel a regional training only if the training facility is closed due to inclement weather.

However, if your school/district is closed, or if weather conditions prohibit safe travel, you are not required to attend. Please contact your region’s MiBLSi Secretary upon return to school.

If you attend a training located at a hotel or other location which does not close due to weather conditions, our policy is that the training is cancelled if the local ISD/RESA is closed (in the county in which the hotel is located), or if your home school district is closed. Please always consider safety first.

Check radio and television stations for an announcement of facility closures or check the area’s local television station’s Web site for closure announcements.

What to do if there is a threat of inclement weather for a Statewide Event:

In the case of a Statewide Event, the event will occur as planned as long as the venue is open. If you are considering traveling to a Statewide Event in inclement weather, please exercise caution and your best judgment and put safely first. We cannot provide a refund as long as the event takes place.

For further information, you may contact the MiBLSi regional coordinator assigned to your area.
