New State Board Continuing Education Units (SB-CEU) Procedures
The Michigan Department of Education has recently transitioned all approved SB-CEU sponsors (like Kalamazoo RESA) to their new online SB-CEU Secure Central Registry system (SCR). The new system will allow you to view all of the SB-CEU credits that you earn from now forward in one Secure Central Registry.
Kalamazoo RESA (MiBLSi’s SB-CEU sponsor) will now upload to the SCR the SB-CEU applications of educators who have met the course requirements. The State’s automated system will then send each applicant (via the sponsor) an email message outlining the actions the educator must take in order to be awarded their SB-CEU credit. This email will instruct you to create / access a Personal Account and complete a required common evaluation for that offering. The evaluation must be completed within 30 days of receipt of the email in order for the SB-CEU credit to be awarded. Once you have successfully completed the evaluation, you will be awarded your SB-CEU credit for that offering.
Because your account is established using your email address and all notification is done via email, please make sure that you use an accurate and consistent email address on all SB-CEU applications. Once your application has been uploaded to the SCR system, you will receive the automated email that instructs you to log-in to your Personal Account and complete the evaluation within 30 days to be awarded the credit.
If you have any questions, please refer them to your MiBLSi Technical Assistance Partner or your MiBLSi Regional Secretary.

Inclement Weather Policy
What to do if we have a threat of inclement weather in your region:
MiBLSi’s policy is to cancel a regional training only if the training facility is closed due to inclement weather. However, if your school/district is closed, or if weather conditions prohibit safe travel, please contact your region’s MiBLSi Secretary upon return to school.
Check radio and television stations for an announcement of facility closures or check the area’s local television station’s Web site for closure announcements.
For further information, you may contact the MiBLSi regional coordinator assigned to your area.
Website Update: Check-In/Check-Out
The Check-In/Check-Out section of the MiBLSi website has been expanded to include many forms, evaluation tools and implementation documents.
MiBLSi Summary of Scaling-Up Efforts
In spring 2003, Michigan’s Integrated Behavior and Learning Support Initiative (MiBLSi) was created for the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services (MDE, OSE-EIS) to support implementation of schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and schoolwide reading intervention. MiBLSi is a Response to Intervention (RtI) model, specifically targeted in the content areas of reading and behavior developed from the scientific research base of Applied Behavior Analysis, and the findings of the National Reading Panel report and the National Research Council.
